Spicy Pasta con le Sarde

Pasta with sardines and wine-soaked cranberries

Non-traditional Spicy Pasta con le Sarde

This dish is inspired by my neighbor, Renée, who was moving and gifted me some pantry staples. Spicy sardines was one of them. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to learn a new dish.

Ingredients

This is loosely based off of this recipe by Champagne Tastes. Here are the modifications I used:

  • I did not have bread crumbs, so I didn’t make the bread crumb portion. Surely it would have tasted great.

  • Instead of currants or raisins, I used cranberries. Equally as tasty!

  • Instead of regular canned sardines, I used jalapeno canned sardines since that’s what I had on hand.

  • I finished the dish with parmesan cheese, both in the pan on the final dish.

Conclusion

I won’t be making this again. I realized quickly how much I dislike canned sardines. Maybe I will make a different canned fish dish in the future, but for now it is too “fishy” tasting for my liking.

Secondly, it might be due to the modifications I made, but this dish has SO many strong flavor profiles that overall it tasted interesting. Not good or bad, but very interesting.

Good luck!
